Vanna White bids an emotional farewell to Pat Sajak!

She didn’t dress the moment up. “I can’t believe that tomorrow is our last show together,” Vanna White began, and suddenly more than four decades of television history felt incredibly personal. For viewers who had watched Wheel of Fortune for years, this wasn’t simply another farewell between coworkers. It was the closing of a partnership that had become part of American television routine.

Vanna struggled to summarize everything she and Pat Sajak had experienced together. Since joining the syndicated Wheel of Fortune era in 1982, they had spent thousands of episodes side by side—through changing fashions, changing technology, countless contestants, celebrations, mistakes, laughter, and moments viewers never saw once the cameras stopped rolling.

What made her message especially emotional was that she focused less on television success and more on friendship. Behind the famous wheel and puzzle board were years of meals, conversations, milestones and memories shared away from the studio. A professional partnership had gradually become something much deeper.

Pat’s final episode as regular host in June 2024 therefore represented more than the end of a job. For longtime viewers, it marked the end of an extraordinarily familiar television pairing.

Vanna remained with Wheel of Fortune as Ryan Seacrest stepped into the hosting role, allowing the program to begin a new chapter while keeping part of its history intact.

But some television partnerships cannot simply be recreated.

For millions who grew up hearing Pat’s voice and watching Vanna reveal those letters, their chemistry became part of home itself.

And saying goodbye to something that familiar can feel surprisingly personal.
